Trail Camp

This is a public Oklahoma camp/trail system, and as such, may be financially supported by OETRA.

Sallisaw, OK

Camp Information:

From I-40 between Sallisaw and Vian, Oklahoma, take the Dwight Mission exit (Exit 303). Travel south on Dwight Mission Road for approximately 3.5 miles to the park entrance on your left through the gate. Follow the road around to the large parking area next to the big pond. Gate is closed daily at 5:30 p.m. for winter hours and usually by 7 p.m. in summer. Trail head is at the parking area and starts to the right of the pond. Follow the white wooden arrows. The full trail is currently around 7.5 miles. More trails are planned eventually. This is a great place to see deer, pelicans and bald eagles!

Scatter well away from the road. Please do not leave manure in the barn or in the bar parking lot.

Special Notes:

The front gate ant the very end of Dwight Mission Road is closed during ongoing construction (as of November 2022). Riding on the trail system is still allowed but you must park in designated area that the park recently created for horse back riders, by the large pond.
Signage next to pipe gate states “horse trailer parking”. Park gate closes at 5:30 p.m. There is no cost to day ride and everyone is welcome. This park is owned and operated by the Cherokee Nation. You do not need to be a tribal citizen to ride at the park.

Winter Hours: The park is open daily from 7 a.m. to 5:30 p.m.
