Hugo, OK

Camp Information:

Kiamichi Park is a sweet little horse camp located right on Hugo Lake. Shade covered trails and lake side camping with the hookups!

Raccoon Road has pens, electric and water hook ups. The trails are mostly sandy and currently there are over 20 miles with most being single track.

Raccoon Road Equestrian Camp at Kiamichi Park welcomes you and your horses! With almost 40 miles of well marked trails you will enjoy the easy terrain and good footing. Call the entry gate for more info: 580-326-9650 from 12 to 8 Mon – Thurs.

Following are a few helpful hints to make your stay and rides more enjoyable!

The US Army Corps of Engineers Rules and Regulations Title 36 take precedent over the use of these trails and camping areas.

All trails leave out of camp from the corner of the blue horse pens. The main trail is marked with ORANGE FLAGS–when you leave camp the orange markers are on your right, to come home put the orange markers on your left.

There are several side trails marked in BLUE, RED, WHITE, YELLOW and Lime GREEN. You will have to come back to the ORANGE trail to get back to camp or if you are day riding you will need to get to the white Ivy Lane Trail.

The map will show that the orange trail does NOT go directly to Bobcat Road – you will have to take the single track marked in orange around the swamp. This is remote trail called Jade’s Cut Thru doesn’t show much wear but you will enjoy the creeks and forest it takes you through.

The Corp requests that you do NOT ride on the paved roads unless there is an emergency, you can cross the roads, you could be subject to a citation if it’s not an emergency.

Riding off trail is not allowed as there are remnants of old barbed wire fences – you could be subject to a citation if off the marked trails.

There is a HORSE BEACH and HORSE SWIM AREA located by site 5 at Raccoon Road.

Wildlife is abundant such as deer, hogs, turkey and snakes.

Mounting rocks have been place for your convenience on the north end of the blue horse pens.

There are horse pens for your use but use of individual pens acknowledges your agreement to clean all hay and manure before you leave which should be scattered well into the forest where it cannot be seen.

It is always nice to see the pens are left cleaner than how you found them.

You are welcome to put up your own pens both electric and portable.

Enjoy the treed canopy of the camping area and don’t allow your horses to chew on the bark.

The trails are maintained by volunteers so you are welcome to carry your loppers or clippers and reporting any big obstacles to the entrance gate is greatly appreciated.
