Camp Information:
The Liberty Lake trail is multi-use, for riding/hiking/biking. Trail is well marked and goes completely around Liberty Lake, 6.2 miles long. There’s an optional loop, the Freedom Loop, that adds another 1.3 miles. Mostly shaded and sandy soil so your horses do not need shoes. Open year round. Under age 16 must be accompanied by an adult. Daily use fee $3, free for seniors age 65+, age 15 or less or disabled veterans. Annual permit available that allows use of both city owned lakes. There are 7 campsites along the shoreline with tables, fire pits, grills, no water or sewer. Sites are first come, they don’t take reservations. See fee schedule for more complete information.
DIRECTIONS: I-35 N of Edmond, Take the Seward Rd. exit #151 and go west about 2.5 miles. Lake entrance will be on your left.
Once you enter the driveway, you’ll come to the lake patrol’s house. For times when the window is unattended there is an honor box for fees hanging on the wall just below the pay window, cash or check only. Loop around the house and drive back up the hill like you’re heading back out. There is a sign for the equestrian parking lot on the right as you head up the hill.
Mounting steps, a hitching post, trail map/message kiosk and picnic table are located in the parking area. A second picnic table is located on the west shoreline.
